Thinking About Writing...

I have been thinking about doing some more writing on my book.  It has been put away for several months due to writers block and life in general, but last night I suddenly got the urge to write some more. It's time.

Writing takes so much patience, time and of course ideas...it just seems so daunting to me.  I will have to go back and re-read everything and get back into the books mind frame, and even as I sit here now it almost terrifies me. What if I can't do it? See, already I am doubting.  No worries...I can always put the pages back into the notebook and forget about it again...but then I may never finish the darn thing.  Some-days it seems that the ideas come to me in droves..then other days, not so much as a trickle. Why is that?  It's probably life that gets in the way, yes I'm pretty sure that is it.

If any of you have any writing tips I would welcome them for sure.  After all I am new to this whole writing thing and can use all the help I can get.

I believe in the sun even when it is not shining. I believe in love even when I feel it not. I believe in God even when He is silent. *Written on a wall in a concentration camp*

Writers Workshop Piece

Hey all it's time again for Writers Workshop with Mama Kat.  I chose prompt #5...Mother’s Day is coming…what is the secret behind the close bond you have with your mom? OR What do you do to create that close bond with your kids?

My Mom and I never really got along when I was a teen, but after her divorce to my father all that changed.  When my dad destroyed my Mom, he left her in a very bad state of mind, her life was ultimately obliterated.  There is only my brother and I, and being a girl I was the more sensitive one, so I stepped in and helped my Mother pick the shattered pieces of her life up and begin to put it back together again.  One day I received a phone call from my Aunt Janice saying my Mom was in real bad shape and was suicidal and could I come over and help...Well that day everything changed...for the better...for my Mom and I.

We have been like best friends ever since, and I show her my appreciation every day.  Every time we talk on the phone, and every weekend my daughter Molly and I spend over at her place, we spend time bonding and building new memories. My Mom is probably one of the most important people in my life...3rd on my list in fact.  God always comes 1st, then my Husband, and Mom is next, she is extremely important to me and I don't just show her on Mother's day, I show her every day how much I love her and appreciate her.

The way I create a special bond with my children is by being the best Mom I can be to them.  I show and tell them every day that I love them unconditionally. I listen to them when they have a bad day, and help them figure out the answers to both their big and small life questions.  I spend time with them, we ride bikes in our beautiful city, have coffee together in the early morning hours, watch movies as well as go to Church together. We are a family every day, not just on Mother's day and they show me their appreciation in a thousand small ways throughout the entire year.

Like when my daughter Molly (At age 10) will come to me and show me another beautiful drawing she has made me.  Or take my son Jesse (Who is 13), he will just come up to me randomly and give me a big hug and kiss on the cheek, to show me how much he loves and appreciates me.  My other son Jacob (Who is 14.5) will tell me "Your the best Mom".  Finally, George my oldest at 16 will come sit by me on the couch and lean his head against my shoulder just to be near me.  I have wonderful children, and because I am a great Mom to them, they show me they love and appreciate me every day, not just on Mother's Day.

Buzz...Buzz...Buzz...

Today I chose to do #5 in Mama Kat’s Writer’s workshop 4/8/2010. If you don’t know who Mama Kat is click here to check her out and hello, what planet do you live on? She’s awesome and very creative so go check out her site and have fun. Okay here goes…

#5.) Where does that fear come from? Write about something that frightens you that other people might find ridiculous. Write about it in a poem, a story, or whatever

I am extremely afraid of bees, birds, and even moths. I always have been, and I think it stems from a very traumatic experience I had as a child. My family lived in a huge house in Medford Oregon when I was very young, and we had a shed out back that was for tools and such. My brother was about a year and a half older than I, and liked to play tricks on me. We never went in the tool shed because hornets liked to make nests in there. One day my brother told me that mom and dad had cleaned the shed out and asked me if I wanted to go check it out with him, so I did.

Big mistake.

We got in there and were just hanging out when all of the sudden we heard a loud humming/buzzing noise, the next thing I know there is a huge cloud of black angry hornets coming after me. I screamed bloody murder and my brother wouldn't let me out of the shed.  I was screaming, he took off, we finally did get away but the damage was already done. I got into trouble for screaming but my brother did not get into trouble for tricking me. That memory has stayed with me my entire life and I have always been unreasonably terrified of flying insects and even birds.

10 Things...mmmkay, here goes

It's time once again for Writer's Workshop with Mama Kat @Mama's losin it! I chose the prompt: List 10 things that blogging has taught you.  So here goes..

1) Blogging takes a lot of time.
2) Blogging does not have to be just for your eyes.
3) Blogging can be a time sucker.
4) Blogging may make you more creative.
5) Blogging comes with buddies.
6) Blogging can be difficult.
7) Blogging does not mean ignoring everything else.
8) Blogging can make you crazy at times
9) Blogging is fun.
10) Blogging makes me happy.

1) Blogging does take a lot of time if you want it to be interesting and captivate an audience of your peers. I am learning to do some posts ahead of time and to only work during the hours my family isn’t home.

2) Blogging has taught me that is does not have to be for my eyes only. There are actually others out there who want to read what I have to say. This was news to me, that is for sure.

3) Blogging has also taught me that it can be a real time sucker. For instance, sometimes when I am on my blog dashboard, time gets sucked into a vacuum as I read my fellow bloggers posts and then commence to comment on them. Time has been sucked.

4) Blogging may have taught me lately that I am beginning to get more creative, what do you think? Seriously, I really am learning a lot of creative ideas from all you other blogging buddies, and that makes me a more creative blogger in turn.

5) Blogging has taught me that the saying, you can never have enough friends, is true. I have made so many friends out there in the blog-o-sphere I can hardly keep up with you all. I am following like 3,000. blogs, or something crazy like that.

6) Blogging is sometimes difficult to do. When I am having an off day, it can be difficult to blog anything worth sharing. This kind of sounds like a….job, eek!

7) Blogging has also taught me that I can’t just go around ignoring everything else in my life, but this one thing. I have had to learn to carve out specific time to blog and then devote the rest of the time to my family and friends. This has proven to be one of the most challenging things about blogging.

8) Blogging can and will at times make you crazy. Crazy as in “Oh my gosh, I have to get this post done and then go and link up with so and so” that kind of crazy. Anyone out there feel that same way? Again, this kind of feels like a…..job, eek!

9) Blogging is fun. Blogging has taught me, my posts do not need to be serious all the time, add some humor and fun in there once in awhile. Sheesh! I love to be a funny gal, so this really isn’t a problem for me; also it keeps all you blogging friends on your toes. What will it be today, happy, sad, serious, or contemplative?

And Finally…

10) Blogging, I have learned, makes me happy. Happiness is a good thing, and  no I am not saying that blogging is my total happiness. That would just be weird, and even sad. That said, I do derive some of my happiness from sharing my life with others through the blogging medium, and that is okay by me!

No one ever asked me.

Time for this week's writer's workshop with Mama Kat
This week I chose No one ever asked me, so here I go..

No one ever asked me if I could see my feelings,

But does that mean they don’t exist?

My feelings are an expression of who I am~right now.

No one ever asked me if I could see my heart,

But does that mean it doesn’t exist?

My heartbeat can be felt by my human hands.

No one ever asked me if I could see the wind,

But does that mean the wind doesn’t exist?

Winds breezes can be felt on my face,

And seen in the swaying trees.

No one ever asked me if I could see God.

But does that mean HE doesn’t exist?

God is here..

There..

Everywhere..

Just look around...if you dare!

(This next one is just a little something extra)

No one ever asked me, why are your eyes brown?
I would have told them of my ancestors.
No one ever asked me, why do you say ya’ll?
I would have told them of my eccentric Granny Ann.
No one ever asked me, what do you put in your homemade soup?
I would have told them, just you never mind.
No one ever asked me, what do you dream to be?
I would have told them, a singer, writer, photographer, or actress.
But no one ever asked me.
