C is for...Compound

I have always had this dream of living in a family compound...this looks like and idyllic setting, doesn't it? (Thanks Google Images) My vision for this family "community setting" is so clear in my minds eye, I can almost feel the wind across my face as I stand in the long grass of the prairie...sorry, got lost there for a second.

We once lived around the corner from my mother...and loved it.  She could pop in any time to see the grand-kids, and I could go there to escape when the craziness got to be too much.  I miss those times.  Now we live 45 minutes away and popping over for a visit takes a little more planning and expense.  Seriously though, if I came into some substantial money I would move my beautiful and sweet mother, my In-Laws, Grannie Anne, and whoever else I could stand would want there.   I'd even put a couple of those Adirondack chairs around the place...this place is shaping up nicely.

We would each have our own separate house, of course, and be far enough away from each other that it would feel like we lived as a single unit, rather than one of many. Of course, there would be one rule everyone would have to follow or die or else, and that rule would be that there would be absolutely no popping over to any ones home without calling first.  That is something I cannot tolerate, don't you think a call is a nice thought before you interrupt some ones day?

Well I didn't buy one of those  waste of a hard earned dollar lottery tickets when the megabucks was $640 million dollars, so I guess I'll have to earn it the hard way...Darn it!

I believe in the sun even when it is not shining. I believe in love even when I feel it not. I believe in God even when He is silent. *Written on a wall in a concentration camp*

Not sure I would like to live in a compound. I would like to live in a fifth wheel traveling from camp ground to camp ground. So I were to win the lottery, (I am told the odds to win are greater if you purchase a ticket) I would purchase a DuraMax Diesel Chevy Silverado and a 39' deluxe fifth wheel with washer and dryer, two tip outs, and a fire place. Of course it would have to be able to hold all my books.

I enjoyed your blog. I live 5 min from my sister and mom and 1 minute from my husbands family. I do not know how I would survive without the ability to see any of them whenever I want. I love family and i love how the Lord gave me the desire of my heart to be close to the ones I love.

I have your site bookmarked to come back. I am on a health journey myself and have begun to run.

Blessings!!

We are very different you and I. I now live within 600 miles of my family (as opposed to 3000), and sometimes I still think that is too close. ;) I love them, but they ooze drama and I prefer mellow.

Hmmm... It is pretty, but I think my family would make me nuts. I can see a cohousing community with friends... though I'd have to trade out my husband for one who was less private. Erm.... and I'd need a retreat too... I need some privacy to be productive...

So interesting what different people thrive on.

I think I might like what you describe if we had enough space. Right now my family is scattered all across the country and I don't get to see them as much as I'd like.
