Sunday Sessions!

This is my dog (baby) Annie...somehow I managed to click the button on the camera just as she was licking her chops...Obviously she had just finished eating something positively delicioso! Must have been some of my cooking, not that I am bragging or anything but hey I have to toot my horn (so to speak) or it won't get tooted! (Which probably tells you I am no gourmet chef) True, but I am one kick ass cookie maker, as long as they are chocolate chip...Have a great weekend and I will be back on Monday...as they say on Harry Potter...there's no post on Sunday. (It is the Lords day!)
Now that I think about it, I did see Annie giving this cat a good licking earlier !

Fantastic and Firey Celebration Night!

I had the best Celebration extravaganza last night...We made the most delicious homemade pizza's of all shapes and sizes.  Some were round deep dish, some were square deep dish,...then we even did some calzones and let me tell you, well...(they were awesome) just doesn't cut it! And to top if off we had a "death by chocolate" Cake that was out of this world, with the words Cancer free written in pink icing! (My absolute favorite color)  It can't get much better than that..okay maybe it can, but I had a phenomenol time.  That feeling of pure contentment was with me all night..even on the ride home, at like midnight!  For those of you who know me personally, you know that this is way past my bedtime but, to me...it was competely worth it. So I say, thanks to my wonderful friends who made last night possibly one of the best nights of my life, I love you guys! Oh and if you haven't laughed yet today go on over to AngelBelieves you will have tears, I promise you that! Just watch, Friday Confessional.

Sandman where are you?

Have you ever had one of those nights where you couldn't sleep, because your mind would not shut up!  Well that is what is happening tonight.  I need to sleep but cannot, and I have to get up in about 6 hours.  For me, 8-9 hours is optimal, not 6. Grrr...So I guess I am going to blog about the night I had with my Children click this link to see my oldest.

http://wwwkinggeorge.blogspot.com/  (He just started putting his blog together)  The picture to the right shows all of them (last summer) together.

Tonight we had a little talk about respect and how "not" to speak to mom.  Now my kids are all wonderful children, and I will be the first to tell you that tid-bit, but they do have their moments.  Tonight was chocked full of irritating and disrespectful moments for three of them, but not for the one with the mohawk.  He was in rare form (the funny kind) tonight. That is the thing about mohawk boy (jesse), he is always making me laugh hysterically.  If I had to describe him, I would say he is what a hug feels like.  Anyhoo I am rambling...back to the point.

We had a sit down-shut-up-and listen talk, or what I like to call a lecture, on how you should and should not speak to your parents.  (Especially when "you, George" the offender are talking to someone on the phone.) Not cool!  I have worked hard to raise godly young men and a godly young girl, and then (here goes the blaming bit) the public school atmosphere goes and tromps all over my effort.  I hate that!  Now before you get all mad at me, I am not (per se) blaming the public school system...no, I am pointing fingers at the atmosphere in which my children are immersed in for 6 hours a day.  My husband and I are not rich and so we cannot afford to home school, so that is out of the question right off the bat.

This issue has led to many a discussion, and now that my High Schooler (who thinks he is much wiser than mom or dad, but is really a great kid) knows that the system is behind him and is teaching him to be independent and to think for himself, well let's just say we get into it more often than not. He knows what the Bible says about "Children obey your parents" yet he also has the conflicting thoughts the schools atmosphere puts into his sponge of a mind, that say "You are your own person"  "You don't need mom and dad"  "Don't listen to what the Bible says, it's archaic, it isn't relevent to now"  Now I know the teachers are not out there telling children to stop listening to their parents, that is not at all what I am saying. I just get frustrated at what the "world" is teaching my children while they are in school.

So since he has become a teenager we have had many a sit down-shut-up and listen, discussion, lecture or whatever you want to call it. It has also led to a plethura of good, and even funny get to know you better talks. This is true for the other teens too, they are dealing with the whole middle school syndrome and that has been interesting, if not frightening, at times.  Now my girl, she is a whole different story, she is the only girl sibling and her brothers all helped to spoil her (but not rotten)...now they are paying the price, and so are mom and dad!

This is a picture of her with her pal weenie dog...see below.  Her problem is that she has a hard time focusing on what mom is asking her to do...and was told tonight in no uncertain terms to stop it or else! Really there was more, but it would take to long to explain and my neck is killing me...So, that led to reading the Word of God by candle light! Very nice indeed..and of course this led to more discussion...which somehow led to questions about how to write html...but that is another story for another time...and I am off to try, again, to summon the sandman....for now I will say goodnight, God bless and keep you safe, and as always when you are finished reading please leave your comment, I love to hear what my fellow bloggers have to say.

Happy Wednesday to you all!

Hey all you ladies..Happy Wednesday! I hope this post finds you all happy and healthy and enjoying life.  My family celebrated our Wonderful news about me being Cancer free, by having Nachos last night for dinner!

Woohoo! We are so thrilled to be past this hurdle in our lives and get back to living without that nagging worry in the back of our heads. So what do we do?  Well, we eat of course! We are eaters, and I for one need to do a lot less of it.  So I am just letting you all know I will be purposely eating less and intentionally getting more exercise (that is a dirty word in my book).

I encourage you to come by and leave comments, tips, suggestions, and generally encourage me!  I am not to humble to admit I need Your encouragement and praise too! I truely hope to make this year one of healthier living and maybe even (okay, not maybe, for sure) some weight loss as well...I am 39 so this is it! I want to be 40 and FABULOUS!  So help me out, I will be looking for your comments, etc...Till we meet again, May God's face shine on you as you pass this way!

Awesome Healing

Wow, I am so excited!  I just came back from the doctor, and I am CANCER FREE!  This has been a long and sometimes agonizing year waiting to hear the words, You are Cancer Free...God is so amazing, I have to tell you how He works.

Okay here we go...When my precious daughter was about 3 months old I found I was more tired than usual.  This led to a doctor visit and then to an MRI (brain tumor comes to mind).  Finding nothing on that scan, I was then sent to a specialist for endocrinology.  Finally I was diagnosed with Hashimotos Disease and treated with Thyroid hormone.

Lets just say the next few years were exhausting as I tried to get my levels to where they were suppossed to be and raise 3 rambunctious boys and 1 little girl...all 7 and under....(you can stop laughing now) although at times I  was hysterical with laughter, (probably more out of exhaustion) but more often than not I was extremely sick and tired~literally. I can laugh a little now when I think back on it (I think I even have an eye twitch connected to that time, ha, ha, ha)...kind of!

So I think we are going to skip ahead to when I first felt something growing in my neck, as well as noticing it in the mirror.  I was living over on the coast in beautiful Brookings, Oregon, and seeing a physicians assistant, not a specialist.  Due to our mounting medical debt we had no choice but to file for Bankruptcy. We just could not pay all my medical bills and support our family of 6.

I lived with the fear of CANCER for the next 3 to 4 years until we moved here to Grants Pass, Oregon, and I made the decision to see another specialist, then another specialist.  Finally a doctor who really cared!  My new doctor had me in every 6-7 weeks checking my levels and doing ultrasounds and finally a referral to a surgeon to have my diseased Thyroid removed.

So here is where the story gets a little scary, I had surgery on Halloween by a surgeon named Dr. Fear...go ahead, you can laugh, I sure did!  That being said he is the Best doctor to have if you need surgery...you can hardly see my incision, which is in the middle of my neck.  He is wonderful and took extremely good care of me. The next thing I remember is him telling me I had CANCER. Wow, I thought I was prepared to hear those words but are you ever really prepared?  I mean who wants to think about something that can steal your life away? It was bad enough that it stole my time with family and friends, my energy, and a myriad of other pleasures too many to note, or maybe I just don't want to revisit those times.  Do you blame me?  I didn't think you would.

After my surgery and CANCER diagnosis, I had alot of time to heal and work with my doctor at getting my levels down to where I was feeling somewhat normal, although I hadn't felt normal for so long it was hard to recognize it. I am just now feeling what "It" feels like..and I have to say, I think I like it! I am getting back to walking (a little) and enjoying life. I feel renewed, so to speak! I have journaled a bit this last year and it has really helped me to come to terms with what my loved ones and I have gone through the last couple of years leading up to my surgery and diagnosis.

Today I am praising God for healing and I really wanted to share it with all of you, my family, friends and blogging buddies.  I hope to form friendships with all who pass this way, May God's face shine on you all!  Let me share a wonderful scripture with you, it is found in...

Psalm 66:1-3 SHOUT joyfully to God, all the earth; Sing the glory of His name; Make His praise glorious.  Say to God, "How awesome are thy works!  Thankyou to all of you who have walked beside me through this journey, and for your many prayers and warm thoughts, and until we meet again God bless you!

Problem commenting?

I know some of you were having trouble posting comments..that is now fixed, I hope!  Happy commenting!

Also I thought I would throw in this funny picture of hugging dogs! Why can't we (humans) be more like this, carefree, happy, silly even? Hmm, something to think about!

Top of the morning to ya!

Good Morning everyone...I was up early (for me) 6:37 a.m. getting the kids up and ready for school, and then out of here on time. Then it was time to do a devotional and relax with God.  I love it that He (our Father) is always there to spend time with us, and just have a quiet conversation anytime we need Him.

I have spent my morning reading up on my newest favorite blogs...written by other lovely ladies with wisdom, tips, and humor to share with...me...or whoever comes along! So all in all a lovely morning it has been!

Also this weekend was long and quiet..and somewhat peaceful...my son Jacob (wrestler boy with brown shirt on) took 4th place at the conference meet! He was awesome, of course I am biased, and rightfully so! His shiny yellow ribbon now hangs where everyone can behold it's beauty...well it's not really shiny but it is something to be proud of, right!  Well I am off to see what kind of mischeif I can get into now! May God's face shine on all who pass this way~

Angelic Mom

Okay so my angel of a mom went home today, she was here helping out as I have been in isolation.  She is such a blessing, I cannot even begin to tell you...okay maybe I will tell you a little bit.  So about a year ago I had my entire Thyroid taken out due to several nodules growing on both lobes.  I then received the "cancer" diagnosis, and treatment plan, and she (my mom) has been with me through the entire..um...blessing, curse, I guess it all depends on how you look at it.

Anyhoo, Mom took time off work to come take care of me and my 4 wonderful, beautiful, ( well you get the point) children, while my husband (bless his heart) worked to provide for all of us.  I mean my beautiful mother cooked, cleaned, cuddled, played cards with the children, and anything else that needed to be done.   She is quite awesome and I think she deserves some kind of Award...like the Most Awesome, Beautiful, Angel Mom award...or something like that!  This last year she has really been a blessing beyond what my family or I could have asked for, and we are eternally in her debt for it!

That being said I am well on my way to a clean health slate (so to speak)...and we shall soon find out if I am (cancer) free... like this Tuesday to be exact...so stay tuned for further posts on this topic.  See ya soon~
